During the prohibition era, vaping was outlawed. However, the federal government couldn’t put a stop to vaping—on the contrary; it became more popular than ever. With the demand for e-cigs and vape so high, one man stood up to provide the world what they asked for: Papa Puff Johnny. Papa Puff Johnny was one of the most revered bootleggers of vaping; creating an underground criminal empire, The Vape Outfit, that would last throughout the years. The product he provided—a vape flavoring that has been compared to cake batter and butterscotch with cream—was served in speakeasies all around the country. People couldn’t get enough of it and clamored to get their hands on it; one taste is enough to get you hooked! Papa Puff Johnny would have to fend off law enforcement, rival gangs, and anyone else looking to get a piece of the vaping action. Despite his rivals, Papa Puff Johnny stood on top of his vampire empire and eventually came up with the idea of a National Vaping Syndicate—a criminal organization that would band together and run the underground vaping trade across the entire country. Eventually, he would be brought down not by the government or rival gangs, but by his own health—dying in the hospital after passing down his organization to protégé: Smokeface Capone.
Papa Puff Johnny is based off the real world figure: Giovanni Torrio, also known as John “Papa Johnny” Torrio. Torrio was well known for being one of the biggest bootleggers of his time; often declared as atheKingpin of New York and Chicago. Torrio is the one who gave his protégé, Scarface Al Capone, his start in the criminal underworld.
